Heating and cooling
Heating
Control the heat from the thermostats on the first floor and upstairs, or via the iPad on the kitchen counter.
There is no thermostat control in the basement — adjust the fins on the radiators directly to change the heat there.
The heater and hot water tank are in the basement closet behind the TV.
Hot water
We have a tankless hot water heater, so you shouldn't run out of hot water. If you plan to take a long shower or bath, it's a good idea to set the water monitoring app to sleep mode so it doesn't try to shut the water main off thinking it's an unusual usage pattern.
Air conditioning
AC can be controlled from the iPad in the kitchen (labeled "Sensibo" in Apple Home).
iPad home automation
The iPad on the kitchen counter controls:
- Lights throughout the house
- Blinds
- Mini-split AC (Sensibo)
- Basement lights
Some living room and front-of-house lights turn on automatically 30 minutes before sunset and off at 3am. Use the "Evening Lights Off" scene to turn them off early along with basement lights. Light switches that are part of the automation are labeled.
